Bigfoot, www.bestchoicetv.com/, Sasquatch and the cold, high-altitude loving Yeti have become part of popular folklore and launched debates around the world and web about whether or not the elusive creature known as Sasquatch is real. Since the late 1800s there have been stories of “wild men†lurking around the Pacific Northwest and the rest of the United States, but the first sighting of Sasquatch can be traced back to 1924. Since then thousands of sightings have been reported, but few have been considered even remotely legitimate. The most recent, prominent sighting occurred in 2007.Additional information can be found at http://www.jeff-goodall.com/?p=8281. In 2007 a hunter by the name of Rick Jacobs reported that he had photos that depicted a Sasquatch in Pennsylvania. The photos were taken by an automatic camera normally employed by hunters looking to stake out hunting grounds. The picture captures an animal unlike any other lurking around a tree directly in front of the camera. The Game association responded to the pictures by suggesting it was simple a common bear with a illness, but the proportions of the arms and torso of the animal leave many believing it could not possibly be a bear. While scientists generally discount the existence of Sasquatch there are cryptozoologists who believe that Sasquatch may very well exist. Some believe that upwards of 80% of all sightings are either misidentified animals or simple hoaxes, but that still leaves around 20% as possibly legitimate sightings. The 2007 sighting and accompanying image might just be one.
Sasquatch is the Indian word for a mythical creature that is more commonly called Bigfoot. Sasquatch is described as an ape-like creature that lives in the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest. The word Sasquatch is an anglicized word from the Halkomelem tribe, a word that means beast.
In the fist half of the 20th century, stories of wild men living in the Pacific Northwest came to the attention of people living in the area. These stories described creatures of great height and bulk that Read the rest of this entry »
There are reports that a Texas group has managed to sequence the Genome of Bigfoot. Before we get out too far in front of this story, there are some things to consider.
First, the team apparently had some problems finding an outlet to publish their findings, and promptly solved that problem by buying an existing journal, renaming it “DE NOVO”, and publishing the unverified findings themselves. Volume 1, Issue 1 of De Novo is currently charging 30 to see the Bigfoot genome report which, incidentally, Read the rest of this entry »
Anyone who is anyone living in this country has heard of Bigfoot or Sasquatch. If you have all those nature channels through Cable-TV.com, then odds are you have seen a special or two. Just what is Bigfoot? Is he a myth or is he part of some kind of science we are only just beginning to understand.
Proponents for the theory that he is nothing more than a myth cite some of the most obvious evidence being that there just isn’t any proof of his existence. Bears crap in the woods, deer mark trees with their antlers and wolves howl, but no one has yet to find any authentic evidence of Sasquatch.
That’s where fringe (pseudo) science comes into play. Fringe scientists and proponents of this theory believe that the reason we haven’t found any evidence of Sasquatch is that everything about him exists in a dimension that our five-sense-oriented brains simply cannot perceive. Because he exists in a realm beyond our comprehension, we only really see him in chance encounters.
Whatever Sasquatch actually is – be he myth or some kind of anomalous entity – one thing remains: our love and intrigue regarding this strange and mysterious creature. We will never stop looking.
Sasquatch is a Native American word for a large, apelike humanoid creature that is known to live throughout the forests of North America. Bigfoot in English terms, fits the same description. There has been hundreds of sightings of Sasquatch (also known as Bigfoot) since the early nineteenth century. Most of them have been in the Pacific Northwest region, although there’s been sightings throughout America and Canada.
One of the earliest sightings of Bigfoot was around 1811 by a fur trader named David Read the rest of this entry »
Sasquatch and the Abominable Snowman are both cryptids of legend. A cryptid is some type of creature that is either hypothetical, thought to be extinct, or for which there is no hard proof of existence. These two primate-like creatures, also sometimes called Bigfoot or Yeti, are two of the most popular of cryptic creatures.
There have been sightings of Sasquatch and the Abominable Snowman throughout man’s history. Despite these supposed sightings, these creatures have never been identified or accepted by biologists. Because of this, they have been catalogued in a Read the rest of this entry »
Sasquatch goes by many different names around the world. This strange and mysterious creature has been sighted in the high mountains of Tibet, where it goes by the name “Yeti” or Abominable Snowman. There have been many sightings of Sasquatch in the Pacific Northwest, where it is more generally known as “Bigfoot.” There are also reports of Bigfoot in British Columbia. The sightings all reports a very large, upright bipedal creature, usually with long, reddish hair. There are alleged Read the rest of this entry »
If you’re wondering if Sasquatch and Bigfoot are one and the same, the answer is yes. Of course, the debate will rage on and on as to whether the creature, regardless of what you call it, is real.
For purposes of this post, I’ll refer to the creature as Bigfoot because it’s much easier to pronounce! Bigfoot is an ape-like creature that lives in forests. It has been reported that he is very large and rather hairy Read the rest of this entry »
